A one day conferenece   on "Diet: Cause and prevention of diseases" held on 18-02-2012 at Adichunchanagiri Biotechnology and Cancer Research Institute.



 Nutrablaze Biotech a pioneering Biotech venture in Karnataka, India was launched by Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji, President, Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust on 28th April 2011 at Bangalore in the August presence of several dignitaries.  Nutrablaze has the mission and vision to make available initially Docoso Hexanoic acid - DHA and Omega 3 fatty acid,  highly essential for the healthy functioning of central nervous system, brain and retina.  DHA will be made available to infants, toddlers, school children, adults, senior citizens, pregnant and lactating mothers at an affordable   cost, so that, the health benefits accrues to everyone. This will be followed by other neutraceutical in a manner that, benefits even the lower strata of the society.  BGS ABCRI collaborates with Nutrablaze to carry out further research on DHA and other neutraceutical to ensure preventive / curative health care focused on the middle and lower middle class people irrespective of nationality, colour, race, gender or economic viability.  





BIOTECHNOLOGY

Our laboratory has been recognized both nationally and internationally for our discovery of the water soluble antioxidant Turmerin a novel antioxidant peptide obtained from Turmeric (Curcuma longa).We have preliminary evidence evident that, the peptide binds to transcription factor AP1 at its C-terminal end to prevent expression of oncogenes c-jun, c-myc, c-ras.

Turmerin is partially sequenced . and the bioinformatics shows that, it is a powerful protease inhibitor. On the molecular signaling aspect we have isolated a novel "death factor peptide" from human lymphocyte treated with smoke / venom which can cause cell mortality possibly by inducing oxidative stress. we have cloned a BGS-Turmerin enriched Turmeric plant and it ready for being micro propagated 'with the aim of increasing the augmenting the export of Turmeric

We have laboratory facility for both animal tissue culture and plant tissue culture for conducting experiments and also a small animal house recognized by Animal Welfare Board of India


BIOINFORMATICS

We have put in place a training program. In bio informatics
  • A compendium of modern biotechnology and Biochemistry methods has been  brought  out,which is a one stop source book.

  • The Turmerin peptide partially sequenced, its homology is being investigated.
