Inauguration of PURA by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. May 7th 2009

Research Council formed - August 2009

A one day conferenece   on "Diet: Cause and prevention of diseases" held on 18-02-2012 at Adichunchanagiri Biotechnology and Cancer Research Institute.

Nutrablaze Biotech a pioneering Biotech venture in Karnataka, India was launched by Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji, President, Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust on 28th April 2011 at Bangalore in the August presence of several dignitaries.  Nutrablaze has the mission and vision to make available initially Docoso Hexanoic acid - DHA and Omega 3 fatty acid,  highly essential for the healthy functioning of central nervous system, brain and retina.  DHA will be made available to infants, toddlers, school children, adults, senior citizens, pregnant and lactating mothers at an affordable   cost, so that, the health benefits accrues to everyone. This will be followed by other neutraceutical in a manner that, benefits even the lower strata of the society.  BGS ABCRI collaborates with Nutrablaze to carry out further research on DHA and other neutraceutical to ensure preventive / curative health care focused on the middle and lower middle class people irrespective of nationality, colour, race, gender or economic viability.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

The research programs a

BGS A.B.C.R.I

is focused on the following themes:

  • Isolation, purification and characterization of antioxidant peptide- Turmerin from Turmeric (Curcuma longa).  The above peptide has been shown to have anti-mutagenic, anti inflammatory ,antioxidant, antimalarial and anti-carcinogenic, anti-promoter, anti-bacterial, antifungal,   properties for its molecular action.
  • Refer to  UNIPROT registration no P-85278
  • BGS Turmerin is very potent inhibitor of Serine and Metallo protesaes of snake venom,  bacterial  and fungal proteases too
  • Refer to international protease net work
  • A new higher molecular weight protein identified and named by us as "HARIDRIN" is also a powerful antioxidant
  • Registered with Uniprot No. P-85278
  • It has been preliminary observed that, Turmerin by binding to AP1 transcription factor prevents the activation of oncogenes like c-jun, c-myc and c-ras.
  • On the similar lines isolation, purification and characterization of novel antioxidant protein from Curry leaves (Murrya koneijiu) has been completed.
  • Sundakai (Soalnum torvum) is green berry from which we have isolated and purified a powerful antibiotic comparable to Gentamycin and new antioxidant.
  • Research work on a novel plant based protease inhibitor is in progress.
  • An antidiabetic plant based mixture with efficacy to control blood sugar is being investigated.

Innovative program
  • The work on Turmerin  isolated & purified both from both virgin turmeric  powder or also from turmeric waste by curcumin  industry has been recognized as very innovative and novel in prevention of cancer, as it is the first demonstration of a plant product being able to modulate prooxidant mediated traumatic cellular aberrations is authenticated by RAPID award.pf NCI , NIH, USA
  • Research on Leutin – prevention of macular degeneration of the human  eye . A new source luetin has been identified
  • A rural  Water filtration using easily available material like sand, Turmeric, alum , neem  leaves has been set up , costing only Rs 100/=
  • A spraying solution containing water extract of Turmeric and Neem oil has been formulated which has successfully killed the black head worm that infests coconut plant and ultimately destroys it.
